How to get the best performance out of Real Audio/Video
These audio
files and videos are non-streaming which means you download them and may save
them on your hard drive.
They play best when all connections to the net are
broken and no other programs are running.
To download the Real Player or Real
Player Plus go to http://www.real.com/
For
Macs, virtual memory should not be running.
Option 1:
Simply click
on the link and let it load in your Real Player, while saving to your desktop.
Without closing the Player, move the file off of your desktop and put it in a
folder.
Option 2:
You CAN save these files on your computer by
choosing "save link as" when right clicking on the link.
After you
have them saved on your computer you should put the file on a disk, on a zip
drive, or burn it to cd. If you cannot fit the file onto anything but your hard
drive you could try downloading the file as a text file and then opening it with
your Real Player, but I do NOT recommend this, or try option 1.
When
downloading a Tori Television show you may have to download the file and then
manually open it with the Real player. Choose "open" under "file". You can also
download from the archive (on another server). The link for the archive is on
the Tori Television
homepage.
If you are running Windows it may put the file in a "temp"
folder. If this happens, open up temp and take the file out or it may
disappear.
Some people find that a program called "Uncook" will help
with files Real Player doesn't recognize as .ra files...try it.
